Clear Lake is an exceptional vacation destination, home of the legendary Surf Ball Room and Museum, Memorial Plane Crash site of Buddy Holly, a very fine distillery, a brewery, shopping and several eateries.  Explore the Sisters Prairie Bike Trail and McIntosh Woods State Park or sit back and cruise around the lake on the Lady of the Lake Paddle Wheel Boat. 

Spend a day in Mason City (only 20 miles from Clear Lake) visit The historic Park Inn Hotel, the last remaining hotel in the world designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Stockman House (Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fireproof House) and see Music Man Square Museum and the boyhood home of Meredith Willson.

A must see, The Charles MacNider Art Museum where the famous “Sound of Music” puppets created by Bill Baird are housed. There are a variety of restaurants, breweries and places to dine. Don’t miss eating at The Northwestern Steakhouse (established in 1920) listed as one of the top ten steakhouses in Iowa. This Greek styled restaurant is very popular so make sure to get a reservation!
